International Literacy Day

It's International Literacy Day. Today, more than 771 million people in the world are illiterate, meaning they are unable to read and write a simple statement because they have been deprived of a school education. In 2019, Togo's literacy rate was around 66%, which means that around 34% of the population is unable to read and write effectively ( approximately 2.8 million people or roughly the population of Chicago).ADRA Togo, works to help illiterate people through training and literacy centers throughout the maritime region of Togo with the help of our partners Sida @sidasweden, SMC @svenskamissionsradet and ADRA Sweden @adrasweden. This year's theme is: "Transforming literacy learning spaces". literacy learning. These spaces must be part of a lifelong learning perspective and build resilience.
