October 17th is celebrated as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.Today should be used as a day to highlight and bring recognition to the efforts made to help people in need.This year’s theme: Dignity for All in Practice. According to the UN: The dignity of the human being is not only a fundamental right in itself but constitutes the basis of all other fundamental rights. Therefore, “Dignity” is not an abstract concept: it belongs to each and every one. Today, many people living in persistent poverty experience their dignity being denied and disrespected.ADRA uses a localized approach to eradicate poverty beginning with examining the desires of the community and working with them to implement their desires for sustainable change.Agricultural efforts, education and literacy classes are ways in which ADRA Togo helps to contribute to the eradication of poverty.
